Despite claims made to the contrary by the star's business partner, Paula Wagner, the word is that Cruise got canned for his recently outlandish conduct. Tom had a Rick James moment on Oprah's couch, as he professed his love for the lovely, and much younger Holmes last year. But, while this and many other Cruise moments admittedly seem out of character, strange behavior has never been an entertainment taboo. So, why is Paramount parting with 'Ethan Hawk,' its biggest money maker? Despite opening at almost $48 million Mission Impossible III was untimately not as profitable as Paramount would have liked. While many cite Cruise's behavior as the reason, I'd say it was the anticlimactic, disappointing ending drafted for War of the Worlds. I guess anything sounds better with Morgan Freeman narrating but, come on- the aliens catch a cold? Cruise undoubtably made enemies in Hollywood when his profession of faith in Scientology led him to publicly shun the use of psychiatrics, with it stars like Brooke Sheilds and probably half the Hollywood Hills who use drugs to treat emotional or psychological problems. Also some people probably don't know what to make of this public appearanceon BET:

Cruise's comments have likely left many in the entertainment industry offended and Paramount seems to be threatened by Tom's unapologetically open and overjoyed antics as of late, but there is nothing, so far, to suggest that Cruise is any more weird than other celebrities. Star's with levels of success like Cruise are entitled to thier little eccentricities; practicing an obscure religion and having a "crazy in love" relationship hardly seems to warrant concern.

Birthdays and Farewells

This week, TwentySomething says goodbye to the stars who turn 30 this week

Melissa George (8/06)
2005 remake of The Amityville Horror and Derailed

Joshua Scott Chasez (08/08)
Member of NSync aka JC

Andrew John Lachey (08/08)
98 Degrees

Also celebrating Birthdays:
Former B2K Boy J-Boog (08/11) is 21!

And, for the first time TSE extends best birthday wishes to its MySpace Buddies! The gang went out to a club called Purgatory, which turned out to be a popular Hispanic spot. The music was a good mix of rap and Latin. People partied full-throttle until 2 a.m. This is the only thing truly unappealing about Texas nightlife. If you are from or have visited places like New Orleans and Chicago where the clubs don’t die down until 4 or later (or earlier depending on how you look at it), it might be a little disappointing. So, we recommend planning a visit to an after hours spot.Gigi’s was also a cool place we visited while we where in Dallas. TI was there that night, women were free until 11 and it seems that everyone was on the dance floor. The VIP area was very nice and worthwhile to have a little space from the crowded dance floor. It was one of the best clubs I have visited in Texas, despite its closing around two as well. It was also just down the street from our hotel, the Radisson Inn on North Central Expressway. Of course, this place was close to everything and you can stay there for a reasonable price if you plan ahead and are able to negotiate discounts or group rates. However, there are a lot of reasonably priced hotels along this expressway, so don’t feel pressured to overextend your budget. There are also several restaurants close by. Just as a little anecdote, several of our crew were new to Texas. We stopped at a What-a-Burger just to pick up a snack and some of the people noticed the slightly higher average price of their meals. But when they saw their portions, everyone stopped dead. No one was even able to eat later that evening at dinner. Let’s just say everything really is bigger in Texas! If you are thinking of moving, Dallas seems to have jobs a plenty. There were several advertisements for lasik surgery, so Dallas must be a center for lasik research or experts in lasik surgery. There is also an abundance of factory and office jobs. By the way, there are also many recreational parks, amusement parks and attractions to see. The Kennedy Memorial is located there and everyone should visit the Galleria, even if you can’t afford a thing that’s in there! Prada, Gucci, Rolex, and Cartier are only a few of the names boasted on signs as you walk through the massive mall. It is very similar to the Galleria Mall located in Houston, Texas. Hotels and airfare are reasonable from many major US cities if you plan your trip ahead of time and search the web for deals. Expedia and Cheap Tickets had the best deals we could find for groups traveling to Dallas. Although we've just arrives, I can tell that I am in for some fierce clubbing tonight. Dallas seems to be a pretty big, very compact city, so it is disorienting. This will be updated on what's cracking in Dallas after things have settled down and after the BLAZING sun has gone down.

Happy Birthday Topher!

That 70's Show star Topher Grace celebrates his 28th bithday today!

Topher Grace made an impressive film debut with his role in Traffic (2000), the epic and widely acclaimed look at the American war on drugs. After an unsettling 2-0 beginning to the series, Miami turned the tables in game three. Wade led his team down a blazing path with four wins in a row to end it all on Dallas’ home court. While the efforts of the Mavericks are certainly commendable, Flash and Shaq proved that the present day dynamic duo still packs a punch. “POW!”
Dwyane Tyrone (Yes, Tyrone) Wade was born January 17, on the south side of Chi Town, to Dwyane Sr. and Jolinda Wade. He attended Richards High School where he averaged 27.0 points and 11.0 rebounds his senior year. In college, Wade played Marquette University. After two awesome seasons, he decided to enter the Draft, declining to complete his senior year.
In 2003, Wade was the fifth overall draft pick. He went on to average more than 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in his rookie season for the Miami Heat and the rest is NBA history. At 24, this 6’4’’ shooting guard received his first NBA championship ring, the first- no doubt- of many to come.
Congratulations Dwyane, from TwentySomethin’s world wide!

Twenty-Something Live!

For those of us who were dubbed Generation X and remade ourselfs generation exceptional, life is like a Tornado mixed drink; it feels good going down but it can get you messed up.
